Two New Shakespeare Radio Plays Confirmed


The BBC have confirmed today via their weekly Radio Drama newsletter that David Tennant will be performing in two new recordings of Shakespeare plays for BBC Radio 3.

Next week David will be in the studio recording Romeo And Juliet in which he will take the role of Prince Escalus. Romeo will be played by Tristan Gravelle and Juliet by Vanessa Kirby. Other members of the cast include Rosie Cavaliero, Ron Cook, Carl Prekopp, Johnny Flynn, Naomi Frederick and Paul Ready. The production will be directed by Jessica Dromgoole.

The following week the same cast will return to the studio to record the Shakepeare comedy Twelfth Night. As yet, David's role has not been announced.

The plays will be broadcast by BBC Radio 3 in April in the Shakespeare And Love strand as part of the Shakespeare Season along with a 2011 production of A Midsummer Night's Dream. More information can be found here.
