New David Tennant Project - The Politician's Husband

After a few internet rumours yesterday it appears that David Tennant has signed on to the new BBC Two three-part drama series The Politician's Husband. Although no formal announcement has been made yet, David's involvement has been indicated by a source involved with the programme.

According to Sunshine on DT Forum, another member of the cast has said that David attended a read-through and a photoshoot for the project, which also stars Emily Watson and Ed Stoppard. The Politician's Husband was written by Paula Milne for BBC Two and will be produced by Daybreak Pictures, the drama arm of Mentorn International, for screening in 2013.

From the Mentorn International website:

The Politician's Husband

The Politician's Husband is a drama exploring what happens in a political marriage when the wife becomes more successful than her husband.
Aiden Hoynes, a senior Cabinet Minister, is happily married to Freya, a junior Minister who has consistently put her own career ambitions on hold for the sake of Aiden's career and their family.
When Aiden's career path to the top echelons comes to an abrupt halt, the power balance within his marriage is irrevocably shifted as he witnesses his wife's political career soar.
In his desperation to cling to power, Aiden risks destroying everything he holds most dear.

  1. Show sounds a lot like the Danish tv show Borgen, which has the main character, a female, become prime minister. And it's disastrous for her marriage.
