Broadchurch Wins The Ratings Battle For A Second Week



Broadchurch held onto the top spot in the 9pm ratings slot last night for ITV. Episode two of the eight part crime drama, created by Chris Chibnall and starring David Tennant and Olivia Colman, was watched by 5.78 million viewers (23.2% of the audience share) at 9pm. A further 606k (3.7%) catching up via +1 giving a total figure for the evening of 6.39m.

The second part of the BBC One murder mystery Shetland also performed strongly, attracting 5m viewers (20.1%). Channel 4's Embarrassing Bodies was watched by 1.84m (7.4%) while This World: A History Of Syria With Dan Snow on BBC Two drew in 1.41m (5.7%). Robson's Extreme Fishing Challenge on Channel 5 reached 860k. BBC Three's documentary Oscar Pistorius: What Really Happened? drew in an audience of 1.07m (4.3%).
