Twenty Twelve Nominated In Today's South Bank Sky Arts Awards

The South Bank Sky Arts Awards 2013 are announced later today at the Dorchester Hotel in London. The spoof documentary series Twenty Twelve, starring Hugh Bonneville, Olivia Colman and Jessica Hynes and narrated by David Tennant, is nominated as Best Comedy. The awards, now in their 16th year, celebrate the best achievements across all genres of the arts over the last year.

Twenty Twelve is up against two Sky Atlantic comedies in the Best Comedy section, competing with Alan Partridge: Welcome to The Places of My Life and  Julia Davies’ period-sitcom Hunderby. The award will be presented by comedian, writer and actor Jo Brand.

Master of ceremonies Melvyn Bragg said of this year’s shortlist:
“2012 was a remarkably fine year for British achievement not least in British art, by British artists. Arriving at this shortlist was a tough job for our judges. We are proud of this world class list of nominees which recognise and honour the best talent at work in the UK today.”

The awards will be televised on Thursday 14th March at 9.30pm on Sky Arts 1
