VIDEO: How ITV Marketed Broadchurch From Teasers To The Reveal

ITV Creative have released a short video illustrating how Broadchurch was marketed to the UK viewing public earlier this year.

The crime series was a main feature of the channel's output at the time of ITV's rebrand and they were keen to re-establish themselves as a broadcaster with a reputation for quality programming and powerful drama.

The campaign went beyond standard TV and internet ads, reaching cinemas, radio and the printed and online press, as well as major billboard campaigns. The tagline 'A Town Wrapped In Secrets' and the image of police tape was a common feature that bound all of the ads together, while Birdy's cover version of People Help The People remains associated with the drama for many. ITV posted exclusive interviews with stars David Tennant and Olivia Colman as the show launched, and the final episode was supported by mini-promos and the #closure hashtag.

Broadchurch launched to 9.1 million viewers and the final episode was watched by 10.5 million
