UK: Watch How To Get Ahead: At Medieval Court With David Tennant Tonight On BBC Four

David Tennant will feature as a guest contributor in the first episode of a new documentary series by writer, broadcaster and Newsnight Arts Correspondent Stephen Smith, How To Get Ahead. The episode, At Medieval Court, airs tonight at 9pm on BBC Four.

How To Get Ahead
Episode 1: At Medieval Court
Stephen Smith looks back at the Medieval Age to find out what it took to get ahead at the court of Richard II. Richard presided over the first truly sophisticated and artistic court in England. Painters, sculptors, poets, tailors, weavers and builders flocked to court to make their fortunes. But these were dangerous times. Being close to Richard brought many a courtier to a sticky end.

David Tennant recently played King Richard in the Royal Shakespeare Company staging of William Shakespeare's play which ran in Stratford-upon-Avon and London between October 2013 - January 2014.

Other guest contributors to the programme include Clarissa Dickson-Wright.

The programme is repeated on BBC Four at 2.45am on Thursday 13th March and will also be available to view again via BBC iPlayer. The documentary is the first in a three part series exploring what was necessary to survive and prosper in the most artistic, decadent and dangerous royal courts in history.
