The Royal Shakespeare Company annual review has been published following the Annual General meeting chaired by their president HRH The Prince of Wales.
The review covers the period including last year's winter season which featured David Tennant's leading role in Richard II and also the launch of the RSC's Live From Stratford-upon-Avon cinema streams and schools broadcasts and the continued staging of the entire First Folio over a six year period.
The RSC celebrated sharing their work with 1.7 million ticket buyers who watched nearly 2000 performances of 22 productions during the 2013/14 season. The year also celebrated the 450th anniversary of Shakespeare's birth.
On 13th November 2014, over 100,000 people came together around the world to watch Richard II, the first ever RSC live cinema screening and the largest audience ever for a single performance of Shakespeare. The production was later streamed into 400 schools around the UK, with a live Q&A with David Tennant and director Gregory Doran.
Other productions staged included Wolf Hall and Bring Up The Bodies, adapted from the novels of Hilary Mantel and soon to be taken to Broadway following a successful West End transfer.
